Lafayette Central Catholic (5-1, 2-1) defeated Benton Central (1-4, 1-2) 12-2 in five innings Tuesday night at Gordon Leming Field in a Hoosier Conference match-up. Hudson Gutwein had three hits, drove in four runs and scored twice for the Knights. Brennan VanKirk also had a pair of hits, drove in two and scored three times. Lucas Gerkey allowed two unearned runs and struck out six to pick up the win. Both teams will play again on Wednesday at Benton Central.
