Lafayette, Ind. - The Central Catholic fell to the Crawfordsville Athenians 37-31 on Thursday night. The Knights came out ready to play and grabbed a quick lead on a layup from Brett Parker. The Knights would go back-and-forth with the Athenians throughout the first half. The half ended in dramatic fashion as Crawfordsville hit a three with just six seconds remaining , but the Knights quickly got down the floor and Leighton Pollert hit a buzzer beater to send the Knights into the locker room trailing by only four. Central Catholic didn’t capitalize on the momentum though and started the half by turning the ball over and giving up easy buckets on three straight possessions, pushing the lead to 10. This put the short-handed Knights into scramble mode for the remainder of the game. The Knights fought hard to get it close, but there wasn’t enough gas in the tank or time on the clock to get the job done. The Knights were led by Parker with 15 points. Chase Rooze added seven and Jordan Dowden had six in the losing effort. The C Team is back in action on Monday against Seeger.
