The Central Catholic 8th Grade boys basketball A team defeated Rensselaer 43-30 Saturday morning. Central Catholic jumped out to a 15-4 first quarter lead and never looked back. CC was very balanced in scoring, with 8 of the 10 players scoring in the game. Leading the way in scoring was Easton Larrabee with 9 and Garrick Evans with 7. The Central Catholic B team won in dramatic fashion, pulling out a double OT thriller, 42-35. The Knights were down 32-31 with 2 seconds left, with Luke Friel at the line for two free throws. After the first free throw rimmed out, Luke calmly sank the second free throw to send the game into the second overtime. The Knights outscored the Bombers 10-3 in the three minute overtime period to secure the win. The Knights were led in scoring by Lane Devlin with 17, Owen Clute with 12, and Luke Friel with 5.
