Lafayette, Ind. - The Knights developmental team (formerly freshman team) opened their season on Monday night against Benton Central. The first half was a defensive struggle, but Jordan Dowden hit a three at the buzzer to send the Knights to the locker room with a 9-7 lead. The Knights were very stingy in the 3rd quarter, holding the Bison to only two points. Central Catholic led 16-9 entering the final stanza. However, turnovers and porous defense allowed the Bison back in the game. The Knights managed only a single Ben Weeks three-point field goal in the fourth. Benton Central managed 14 points in the quarter to win the game 23-19. Weeks led the Knights with eight points. Brett Parker added six in the losing effort. The developmental squad won’t be back in action until December 12 against Harrison.
