The Knights competed with our conference competitors at the WCJC XC Championships, hosted by Benton Central. Continuing to achieve new personal bests late in the season, when you're at the peak of your powers becomes ever more challenging. Our harriers continue to deliver. All Knights that raced today achieved new PRs. In the girls race, Katie Rotar turned in a strong performance, leading the Knights across the line in 20th place and a new career best of 13:41. Close behind, Julia Duso showed us that she's not done breaking limits yet, finishing with a new career best of 14:25. Veteran Tatum Perior is back in the saddle, after recovering from illness. The third Knight across the line, she posted a new season best of 14:58. Sophia Telenko, rounded out the finishes for the Knights, with a strong push for the finish and a new season best of 21:29. Good show girls! Some powerful performances in the boys race. All seven Knights raised the bar yet again and demonstrated new career PRs. Patrick Seeley, Connor Brand and Alex Gonzalez led the way for the Knights, all cracking the top 20! Seeley turned in the race of his career, to date, finishing first for the Knights and setting a new career best of 11:12, 6th place overall. Brand, right on Seeley's heels finished in 11:15, 8th place overall and likewise a new career best. Big day for our third Knight Alex Gonzalez. He took risk, executed well and cracked the 12-minute barrier for the first time, posting a new career best of 11:56 and a 16th place finish overall. The new career best performances just kept coming! Our next four Knights across the line, Luke Friel, Parker Duso, Zach Kerr and Jeremy Sison, likewise were not done pursuing new limits. All four shaved 25-30 seconds off their best performances today! Friel 13:19, Duso 13:24, Kerr 13:25 and Sison 14:13. The Knights were narrowly edged out by Tecumseh by one point, for the 3rd place spot. Team score: 4th, 87 (6 8 14 28 31). Nicely done Knights! Eleven Knights, eleven PRs! We continue to be proud of their dedication and passion. Our season culminates at the LaVern Gibson Championship Cross Country course in Terre Haute next Saturday 5 October, as our harriers head to the Indiana Middle School Cross Country Championships.
