Knights Excel at Rensselaer JH XC Invitational

By Scott Orr | Sep 14, 2024 5:22 PM

The Knights raced against tough competition at the Rensselaer Invitational on 14 September. Our runners raced with 29 schools from around the region. The race event format subdivided the Knights into 8th, 7th and 6th grade, thus we had insufficient numbers to score as a team. The individual performance synopsis of the day for the Knights was "Wow"! Best racing performances of the season thus far. Nine PRs, and two runners 2-5 seconds off PR. In the 8th grade girls race, Katie Rotar turned in a super run and tied her career PR with a 14:30 performance today. Seventh grade girls race excitement, as Katie Brown had a massive breakthrough, shattering her career PR of 14:58, raising the bar with a 13:53 performance. She narrowly missed medal contention, finishing 21st. Brown's performance is the fastest for the Knights so far this season. Julia Duso continues to demonstrate her strength, as her awesome 15:35 performance in the 6th grade girls race was 2 seconds shy of career PR. Super performances by our girls!! The boys delivered equally terrific performances. In the 8th grade race, Alex Gonzalez led the way for the Knights, crossing the line in 12:19, 5 sec off career PR. Strong running by Luke Friel and Jayden Silva-Amaro in the 8th grade race, posting new season PRs of 14:20 and 13:03 respectively. Exciting running in the 7th grade boys race, as all four Knights delivered PR performances. Connor Brand and Patrick Seeley led the way. Brand posted season best 11:24, Seeley raised the bar with a new career PR performance of 11:32. Both of these awesome harriers reached top 10 medal placements; Brand 6th, Seeley 9th, in a race field of 156. Zach Kerr was the third Knight across the line, bring home a season PR 14:06 performance. Another big breakthrough for Beckett White, as he powered to a new career PR of 15:01! Andrew Thiel was our sole Knight in the 6th grade boys race, but that didn't stop him from demonstrating awesome running. One of our dual sport, Football-XC athletes, Thiel ran strong, bringing home a new career PR of 12:23! Good show boys! We're proud of their hard work and love to watch it culminate on the racecourse! Next up, your Knights come home to race at the Central Catholic Invitational on 19 Sep. “Only those who will risk going too far can possibly find out how far one can go.” T.S. Eliot.
