The Knights competed with 11 schools from around the region in the MAV Stampede, at Wea Middle School. Uniquely challenging day, with relatively cooler temperatures that we've been used to this week, but fairly humid today, and on a race course with several muddy, slippery challenges! In the girls race, veteran Katie Rotar led the Knights across the line, finishing 14:56 and 32nd, in a race field of 141 runners. Muddy pitfalls were the challenge of the day. Katie lost a shoe in mud mid race and powered through the last 1.5 km with one shoe! Veterans Katie Brown and Tatum Perior delivered and secured the second and third scoring spots for the Knights. Sixth graders Freya Britton and Julia Duso rounded out the scoring for the Knights, in fourth and fifth team positions. Big day for one of our newest Knights, Jazlyn Robledo. Great running in her season debut, with a 24:31 performance. The girls collective efforts resulted in the Knights placing 9th of 11 teams, with a score of 219 (32 40 45 50 52). In the boys race, Connor Brand finished first for the Knights, 12th place overall (in a field of 202 runners), with a time of 11:41! Patrick Seeley and Alex Gonzalez finished second and third for the Knights, with strong performances of 12:17 and 12:43 respectively. Sixth grader Andrew Thiel brought home the fourth scoring spot for the Knights and a 12:59 performance. Veteran Zach Kerr secured the 5th scoring position for the Knights. Two Knights persevered through the humidity and muck, to reach new career PRs. Beckett White and Jeremy Sison, powered through to great performances of 15:22 and 15:33 respectively! The boys collective efforts resulted in the Knights placing 5th of 10 teams. 154 (12 24 32 35 51). Great racing Knights. The Knights get a bit of racing time off, and will be back in action at the Hornet Invitational on 10 Sep.
