The Knights opened the 2024 season at the Fountain Central Grand Prix, in Veedersburg IN. Our harriers competed with 11 schools from around the region. They persevered in the heat of the day, and delivered some great individual and team performances. In the girls race, veteran Katie Rotar led the Knights across the line, finishing 15:16 and 28th, in a race field of 111 runners. Big day from our newest Knights, 6th graders Julia Duso and Freya Britton! The second and third Knights across the line, they turned in excellent performances of 15:33 and 15:39 respectively! Veterans Katie Brown and Tatum Perior rounded out the scoring for the Knights, in fourth and fifth team positions. The girls collective efforts resulted in the Knights placing 5th of 11 teams, with a score of 165 (25 29 30 38 43). In the boys race, veteran Connor Brand turned in a powerful season opening run, finishing first for the Knights, 9th place overall (in a field of 151 runners), with a time of 11:32. In close pursuit, veterans Patrick Seeley and Alex Gonzalez finished second and third for the Knights, both with new career PR performances of 11:44 and 12:14 respectively. Big day for another one of our newest Knights, 6th grader Andrew Thiel, who brought home the fourth scoring spot for the Knights and a 12:29 performance. Veteran Jayden Silva-Amaro secured the 5th scoring position for the Knights, with Parker Duso coming sixth for the Knights and a new career PR of 13:43. The boys collective efforts resulted in the Knights reaching the podium, placing 3rd of 11 teams! 125 (9 16 25 29 46). Great racing Knights. Next up, your JH harriers are heading to Wea Middle School to compete in the MAV Stampede on 31 Aug.
