JH Cross Country Kicks off at Fountain Central Grand Prix

The Knights opened the 2026 season at the Fountain Central Grand Prix, in Veedersburg IN. Our harriers competed with 16 schools from around the region. The Knights translated their discipline and hard work in summer conditioning and pre-season into great individual and team performances. This 2026 crew is blessed with a majority of new talent, complemented by several excellent veteran runners. In the girls race, rookie Cate Thiel opened the season with an explosive run, finishing in 13:11 on this 3k course. Thiel was the first Knight across the line and 11th overall. Lydia Worster debuted as a new Knight turning a 14:44 performance, second Knight in the chute. Rookie Amelia Vogel was in close pursuit, getting it done in 15:07. Veterans Julia Duso and Naomi Vogel, no strangers to this course, rounded out the scoring for our team, finishing 4th and 5th for the Knights in 15:57 and 16:51 respectively. Gianna Starr, ran a great season opener, 17:07 PR. Ella Dwyer kicked off her career with a great 18:23 finish. Awesome running. The Knights collectively placed 8th of 12 teams. Score 176 (10 31 35 46 54). The boys opened with excellent performances, delivering 3rd place of 12 teams! Veteran Andrew Thiel put on a master class in 3k racing, first Knight across the line, 4th overall, with a new PR of 11:03. The next four Knights, packed right together within about 30 seconds of one another, finishing 15th, 20th, 27th, and 31st overall, to help propel the Knights to 3rd place on the podium. Rookies Harry Sweet and George Thiel turned in awesome career openers, with 12:02 and 12:11 performances. Veteran Micah Worster ran strong, bringing in a new PR of 12:20. Rookie Keegan White was in close pursuit, rounding out scoring for the Knights with an awesome 12:34 performance. Veteran Beckett White opened the season with a super run, and a new PR of 13:01. Mikey Rotar kicked off his career with a great 13:41 finish. That race was a blast to watch! The Knights collectively placed 3rd of 12 teams. Score 92 (3 14 19 26 30). Great stuff today, but this team is just getting started. Next up, your JH harriers are heading to Wea Middle School to compete in the MAV Stampede on 29 Aug.
