Lafayette Central Catholic Lady Knights Stymied By Crawfordsville Athenians

By GameChanger Media Lafayette Central Catholic Varsity Knights couldn't keep up with Crawfordsville Varsity Athenians and fell 12-5 on Monday. Crawfordsville Varsity Athenians got on the board in the top of the first inning after Christina Susdorf singled down the right field line, and Crawfordsville Varsity Athenians scored on a passed ball, each scoring one run. Lafayette Central Catholic Varsity Knights took the lead in the bottom of the second inning after Lilly Frey singled , Angela Buczkowski doubled down the right field line, and Lafayette Central Catholic Varsity Knights scored on a wild pitch, each scoring one run. Lafayette Central Catholic Varsity Knights added one run in the third. Kendyl McCammon grounded out, making the score 4-2. Crawfordsville Varsity Athenians flipped the game on its head in the top of the fourth, scoring five runs on three hits to take the lead, 7-4. The biggest blow in the inning was a single by Susdorf that drove in two. Crawfordsville Varsity Athenians scored five runs on two hits in the top of the sixth inning. Susdorf singled, scoring two runs, Tori Truax doubled, scoring one run, Laikyn Dowell drew a walk, scoring one run, and a wild pitch scored one run. Molly Pierce earned the win for Crawfordsville Varsity Athenians. The pitcher gave up eight hits and five runs (four earned) over seven innings, striking out five and walking two. Meghan Duffy took the loss for Lafayette Central Catholic Varsity Knights. The starter went seven innings, allowing 12 runs (four earned) on eight hits, striking out 13 and walking five. Buczkowski led Lafayette Central Catholic Varsity Knights with one run batted in. The right-handed hitter went 1-for-3 on the day. Hannah Lee went 2-for-4 at the plate to lead Lafayette Central Catholic Varsity Knights in hits. Susdorf drove the middle of the lineup, leading Crawfordsville Varsity Athenians with three runs batted in. The catcher went 3-for-5 on the day. Madison Martin and Pierce each stole multiple bases for Crawfordsville Varsity Athenians. Crawfordsville Varsity Athenians had patience at the plate, collecting five walks for the game. Crawfordsville Varsity Athenians ran wild on the base paths, collecting four stolen bases for the game.
