By GameChanger Media Guerin Catholic Varsity Golden Eagles defeated Lafayette Central Catholic Varsity Knights 18-2 on Tuesday thanks in part to 10 runs in the first inning. Guerin Catholic Varsity Golden Eagles jumped out to the lead in the bottom of the first inning after an error scored two runs, an error scored one run, Halle Hunter was struck by a pitch, driving in a run, Kate Brady drew a walk, scoring one run, Emily Powers was struck by a pitch, driving in a run, an error scored three runs, and an error scored one run. Guerin Catholic Varsity Golden Eagles added two runs in the second after Powers singled down the right field line. Guerin Catholic Varsity Golden Eagles added to their early lead in the bottom of the third inning after Gia Crishon homered to center field, and Riley Fredericks singled to center field, each scoring one run. Crishon earned the win for Guerin Catholic Varsity Golden Eagles. The hurler gave up three hits and two runs (zero earned) over five innings, striking out seven and walking one. Kendyl McCammon took the loss for Lafayette Central Catholic Varsity Knights. The starter went four innings, surrendering 18 runs (six earned) on nine hits, striking out three and walking eight. Lilly Frey, Embree Boutelle, and Corinne Zehring each collected one hit for Lafayette Central Catholic Varsity Knights. Boutelle led Lafayette Central Catholic Varsity Knights with one run batted in. The catcher went 1-for-2 on the day. Zehring stole two bases. Ava Augustinovicz drove the middle of the lineup, leading Guerin Catholic Varsity Golden Eagles with four runs batted in. The infielder went 1-for-4 on the day. Jillian Davis and Powers were a force together in the lineup, as they each collected two hits for Guerin Catholic Varsity Golden Eagles while hitting back-to-back.
