Lafayette Central Catholic Varsity Knights Fall After Strong Showing By South Newton Varsity Rebels

By GameChanger Media Lafayette Central Catholic Varsity Knights couldn't keep up with South Newton Varsity Rebels and fell 23-2 on Thursday. South Newton Varsity Rebels jumped out to the lead in the bottom of the first inning after Lizzie Corbett singled, scoring one run, Tinley Hoaks drew a walk, scoring one run, Kendyl McCammon induced Averie Hoskins to hit into a fielder's choice, but one run scored, Livia Kollman doubled, scoring two runs, Kimber Cruz drew a walk, scoring one run, Cora Groover tripled, scoring three runs, Hoskins was struck by a pitch, driving in a run, and an error scored one run. South Newton Varsity Rebels scored seven runs on three hits in the bottom of the second inning. Briley Iseminger tripled, scoring one run, Cruz singled, scoring one run, Hoaks grounded out, scoring one run, Hannah Taylor was struck by a pitch, driving in a run, Kollman drew a walk, scoring one run, Faye Springsteen was struck by a pitch, driving in a run, and Iseminger was struck by a pitch, driving in a run. South Newton Varsity Rebels added to their early lead in the bottom of the third inning after Mady Contreras singled to center field, Taylor singled down the left field line, Springsteen grounded out, and Cruz singled to the left side of the infield, each scoring one run. Iseminger earned the win for South Newton Varsity Rebels. The pitcher allowed two hits and one run over four innings, striking out six and walking two. McCammon took the loss for Lafayette Central Catholic Varsity Knights. The right-handed pitcher went one inning, surrendering 11 runs (10 earned) on five hits, striking out two and walking four. Embree Boutelle, Corinne Zehring, and Meghan Duffy each collected one hit for Lafayette Central Catholic Varsity Knights. Boutelle and Duffy each drove in one run for Lafayette Central Catholic Varsity Knights. Zehring stole two bases. South Newton Varsity Rebels piled up 14 hits in the game. Corbett, Cruz, Iseminger, Groover, and Springsteen each collected two hits for South Newton Varsity Rebels. Hoaks and Cruz each drove in three runs for South Newton Varsity Rebels. South Newton Varsity Rebels had patience at the plate, accumulating eight walks for the game. Cruz and Iseminger led the team with two bases on balls each.
