Knights Walkoff Indians

Lafayette Central Catholic (2-0) rallied in the bottom of the 7th inning to walkoff Twin Lakes (0-2) Tuesday night at frigid Gordon Leming Field . In the bottom of the seventh, Koye Gick walked and stole second. Gick advanced to third on Alex Schummer's infield hit. LJ Whitford's infield single scored Gick to secure the 8-7 victory for the Knights. Schummer picked up the win in relief with two shutout innings and was also 3-3 at the plate. Whitford and Mikey Stapleton each had two hits and both drove in a pair of runs. The Knights spotted the Indians 3 runs in the top of the first, but came back and scored three of their own in the bottom of the first. Brennan VanKirk's two out, two run single highlighted the first for the Knights. Jonah Gerkey settled down after a tough first inning to pitch a solid 4 2/3 innings. Both teams play again on Wednesday in Monticello.
