LAFAYETTE, Ind. - The Central Catholic freshman boys moved to 5-2 on the season with a 61-44 win over McCutcheon on Friday night. For the second straight night, the Knights jumped out to a big lead early and never looked back. Last night's leading scorer, Owen Clute, found himself in early foul trouble, but Landon Brand and Easton Larrabee took the reins and contributed seven and nine first-quarter points, respectively. The Knights didn't let up in the second quarter as Brand and Tyler Schmidt helped extend the lead to 34-16 at the half. Alex Gonzales was the engine for the offense in the second half. He led the Knights with 10 points after the break. Behind Gonzales's floor leadership, the Knights outscored the Mavericks in each of the first three quarters, this after winning all four quarters last night. For the night, eight Knights got on the board with three scoring in double figures. Brand led the way with 14, Gonzales had 13, and Larrabee finished with 12. The Knights return to action on Monday as they head to Rossville for a rescheduled game against the Hornets AT 6:00 PM.
