The Lady Knights were pumped up and anxious to play in the final home game of the season. 3minutes into the game, Karsyn Cherry split the defenders with a nice pass that Caroline Lutz raced onto, outran the defenders and skillfully slipped the ball past the keeper giving the Knights an early lead. 2 minutes later, Karsyn outran a defender to keep the ball in play, made a crisp pass to Lili Tribble who 2-touched the ball to Hailey Fallen who sent the ball past the keeper from about 15 yards out. 2 minutes later, Caroline returned the favor to Karsyn by slotting the ball through the Bombers’ backline for Karsyn to run onto. Karsyn slid the ball past the keeper giving the Lady Knights a 3-0 lead 7 minutes into the game. Caroline & Karsyn hooked up again at the 20-minute mark with an almost duplicate play from Karsyn’s 1st goal making the score 4-0. With about 4 minutes to go in the half, Mayah Love found Caroline all alone in the middle of the field about 25 yards from the goal. Caroline blasted a shot that went right past the keeper. 16 minutes into the 2nd half, Hailey Fallen threw in the perfect throw-in for Caroline to run onto and score her 3rd goal of the game. 2 minutes later, Lili Tribble won the ball inside the penalty box on the right side of the goal. Lili sent a nice pass across the face of the goal for Haily Cochran to run onto and score. Aubrey Weeks closed out the scoring for the Knights when she took the ball down the left-wing deep into the box and shot the ball right at the keeper who was unable to get a hand on the ball and the ball went sailing into the goal. The Lady Knights did a very nice job of keeping the opposing team in check. CC only allowed 3 shots on goal for the entire game. Rensselaer’s lone goal came off of a penalty kick. The Lady Knights finish the regular season with the best record in girls’ soccer history at 13-2-1. The Lady Knights started the preseason ranked #1 in Class A and finished the regular season ranked #1 in both the coaches poll and the Max Preps rankings. Congratulations Lady Knights!!! Keep it going through the post-season.
