The reining Sectional Champion Central Catholic Lady Knights took on Faith Christian Lady Eagles for the 2018 Sectional Championship. The Lady Eagles chose not to focus on offense but instead, to pack it in on defense in hopes that the Lady Knights would not score. CC kept the ball on Faith’s end of the field for the majority of the game. When Faith would win possession, they would big kick the ball down to CC’s defensive end and CC would bring the ball right bak up and try to find an open shot. Although CC had possession for 48 minutes compared to 28 minutes for Faith, and had 29 shots on goal compared to 2 for Faith, the score remained 0-0 through the first 62 minutes. In the 63rd minute, Madison Love found herself with an open shot approximately 25 yards away from the goal. Madison stepped into her shot and blasted the ball just under the crossbar giving the Knights a 1-0 lead. Faith had to abandon their defensive game plan if they were to have a chance to score. This created more scoring chances for CC. With 4 minutes to go, Emma Bullock scored off of a free kick to give the Knights a 2-0 lead and a little breathing room. The 2-0 score was the final giving the Lady Knights their 3rd straight sectional championship. Great Job, Ladies.
