Central Catholic honored senior Knights boys tennis players Patrick “Potch” Gothard (LCC) and Sebastian “Sebo” Lux (LCC) prior to the match against the Harrison Raiders at Rohrman Courts on Wednesday afternoon.
Harrison’s singles players made quick work of their matches, winning all three matches 0 and 0. No. 2 doubles didn’t fare much better for the Knights with a 6-2, 6-0 loss to Harrison. That cleared the stage for the best tennis of the day, with Gothard and Lux teamed up at No. 1 singles. With the first set tied 6-6, Gothard and Lux took the tie-breaker 7-4 to win the set. The Knights then jumped out to a 4-2 lead in the second set, but Harrison battled back to take the next two games and tie things up. Potch and Sebo then broke Harrison’s serve to take a 5-4 lead. The Knights then served out for the win with Potch serving up an ace on match point. The hard-fought win at No. 1 doubles from our seniors avoided the shutout for the Knights.
Congratulations to Patrick and Sebastian for their great careers on the Knights tennis team.
