The Knights responded well against a tough Carroll team winning the first quarter 11-10. With foul trouble plaguing the Knights from the 2nd quarter on they fought hard to keep the game tied at half 17-17. The Knights had Carroll’s lead cut to 3 in the 4th quarter but had to foul to stop the clock. Carroll shot 25 free throws going 11-25 from the line. Central Catholic made the most of their 4 attempts at the charity stripe going 3-4. Werth led the team in scoring with 11 points and battled hard on the defensive end. Poindexter made her presence felt as she played stellar defense on Carroll’s best player and overall had a great floor game. Poindexter ended with 4 points fouling out with a couple minutes to go in the 4th. Riley scored 8 points and was the team’s only source of offense in the 4th quarter. Meister played excellent help defense and went 2-2 from the free throw line. Lutz did a great job handling Carroll’s defensive pressure taking care of the ball and scored 2 points. Cochran came in the game off the bench and provided rebounding and defense for the Knights. She also added in 2 points. This was a great test for the Knights as they prepare to finish out the WCJC strong and get ready for the City Tournament.
