In the final (home game) of the season – the CC 8th grade boys took on Benton Central. It was not a pretty game – but it was close throughout. Though the Knights turned the ball over a numerous times in the 1st half – they were still able to take a 4 point lead at the half 18-14. The 3rd quarter was all Benton Central as they scored 14 points to open up a 28-22 advantage heading into the 4th. In the 4th quarter CC picked up the defense and Ben Mazur hit a big 3 pointer and Tanner Fields added two key free throws to tie the game and send it to overtime. In OT, Mazur hit another 3 pointer – but BC countered with one of their own to tie it, Then – after Aiden Shaefer hit one of two free throws to go back up by one – the Bison’s last shot with 3 seconds left rimmed out and CC escaped with a 38-37 overtime win. Ben Mazur led the Knights with 14 points, Zach Kerr added 12 – and Tanner Fields finished with 6. The Knights finish undefeated at home this season (10-0) and are now 17-1 overall. In the B team game, CC jumped on BC early and never let up – as they went on to a easy 31-13 victory. Brady Miller led CC with 8 points, Dylan Meek added 7 and Ryan Schummer chipped in with 5. Both team finish out their seasons this Saturday at the City Tournament. .
