CC’s 8th Grade took on Tecumseh tonight – and it was a battle from the beginning. CC got off to a good start leading 6-2 early – but the Bronchos went on a 19-8 run to lead 21-14 before the Knights closed the half with 5 straight points to trail just 21-19 at half. In the 3rd quarter, the teams continued to trade baskets but Tecumseh would not give up their lead. In the 4th with CC trailing 31-29 – the Knights began to turn up the defensive pressure causing numerous Broncho turnovers and poor shots. Plus, they were able to beat Tecumseh’s full court pressure to get some easier baskets of their own – as well get to the foul line. CC’s 16 point 4th quarter (including 9 for 11 from the line) finished off the Bronchos to earn a hard fought 45-40 win. Zach Kerr led the Knights with 18 points and 10 rebounds – followed by Tanner Fields 8 points & 8 rebounds – and Aiden Schaefer who had a nice game with 6 points (4-5 FT’s). The win puts the Knights at 8-1 overall and 7-1 in the WCJC. In the B Team game, each time Tecumseh got up by 6 or 8 points – the Knights would come back to make it close. They could never get over the hump however – falling to the Bronchos 40-32. The Knights were led by TJ Bell with 9 points and 9 rebounds – and Issac Buche who finished with 8 points. The loss puts the B team at 4-5 overall. The A team plays again tomorrow night at home against Clinton Prairie.
