After a tough couple of matches, last week, the Knights got back on track this evening, securing a tie against a strong Hamilton Heights team. Central Catholic opened the scoring at the 15 minute mark, when Jack Gerrety won a free ball on the right wing & crossed it just outside the box, finding Luke Cooley for a strong finish. The Knights had multiple opportunities moving forward, but the Huskies’ goalie made several excellent stops. Central Catholic goal keeper, Delano Aslan, in his first extended varsity minutes, made 9 excellent saves of his own. With just 14 minutes left in the match, Hamilton Heights evened the score on a shot from outside a crowded box, that found the back of the net. Each team created a few more opportunities, but this hard-fought match ended in a 1-1 tie.
The Junior Varisty team also earned a tie, in one-half of play. Eric Gayton led a streaking Eli Walker perfectly for a Knight goal, early in the match. Just as the varsity had done earlier in the evening, Hamilton Heights was able to produce the equalizer, later in the half.
