It was CC vs Seeger in the Knight Invitational boys basketball championship game this morning. From the beginning, the Patriots jumped out to a quick 10-4 lead in the 1st quarter as they pounded the ball inside to their big guys. The Knights changed things up on defense in the 2nd and climbed back in it to take a 15-14 lead at the half. Much like the first game of the tournament – it was the 3rd quarter that made the difference. CC’s defense caused numerous turnovers which led to easy baskets helping them extend the advantage to nine points by the end of the quarter. Seeger tried to get closer in the 4th – but the Knights closed out the game from the line ( hitting 6 of 8 free throws) – on their way to a 39-29 win and the tournament championship. Albert Schwartz led the Knights with 12 points and 6 rebounds. He was followed by Alex Hardebeck who had 10 points, Nick Page added 9 and Keaton Brooks finished with 6 points and 5 assists. CC is now 15-1 overall and play their final home game next Tuesday night against Benton Central.
