The CC 8th grade boys basketball team got back to their winning ways on Thursday night – but it wasn’t easy. The Knights got off to a 12-8 lead after the 1st quarter but a very hard nosed Tuttle team battled back to tie the game with 5 seconds left in the half. However, on the inbounds – Alex Hardebeck dribbled to half-court and his shot banked in to give CC a 23-20 advantage. In the 3rd quarter, the Knights switched up their defense which helped keep the Athenians in check – but in the 4th – Tuttle’s pressure caused enough turnovers to get them back to within two at 37-35. In the end, it was Keaton Brooks making 6 of 6 free throws with less than a minute left that finally sealed the game at 46-37. Brooks led the Knights with 15 points – followed by Albert Schwartz with 13 points and 8 rebounds – and Gavin Boutelle added 7 points in the win. CC is now 13-1 overall and plays again this Saturday at home against Covington in the Knight Invitational.
