The Knights sent 3 wrestlers to the Logansport Regionals on Saturday. Congratulations to Senior Dominic Skees and Junior Andrew Kline who advance to next weekends Semi-State at East Chicago Central High School.
12o Dominic Skees started the day with a 6-2 Decision over Pratt of Winimac. Dom then lost to Sectional Champion Vaughn of Harrison by a 7-2 Decision. In his last match Dom scored a 7 – 1 Decision over Fritz of West Central to capture 3rd place at the Regional. This is Dominic’s 3rd time wrestling at Semi-State making his return after suffering a season ending injury last year.
138 Andrew Kline faced the lowest seed from the Twin Lakes sectional after his Sectional Championship last week. Andrew started the day strong by scoring a 15-0 Tech Fall over Hernandez of Logansport. Andrew then defeated Baumgartner of Lafayette Jeff by a 9-4 Decision, beating him for the 3rd time this season. Andrew fell to the Twin Lakes Sectional Champion, Carter of Rensselaer, placing 2nd at the Regional.
106 Junior Calvin Pickerill lost a first round match to Oliver of Rensselaer, finishing his season with a 19-6 record and as a two time Regional Qualifier.
Next week Dominic and Andrew travel to the tough East Chicago Central Semi-State where they will need to win two matches to advance to State.
