The Central Catholic Football Knights extended their season on Friday with a 35-12 win over Frontier in the Sectional 42 Quarterfinal. After going down 12-7 in the second quarter, the Knights rattled off 28 unanswered points to come away with a 35-12 victory.
The defense was able to pitch a second half shutout and was led by Tommy Puskar (17 tackles) and Wade Hardebeck (12 tackles). Moving Aiden Schaefer to nose tackle in the second half proved to be the right adjustment as his selfless play allowed his team mates to make plays defensively. Sam Seaburg added a much needed interception on a drive that saw the Falcons driving and deep in Knights territory.
Offensively, Clark Barrett and Ben Mazur combined to throw four touchdown passes. Barrett lead the team going 18-28 for 290yds and 3 tds. Baylor Smith added nearly 200 yds of total offense. He rushed for 141 yds on 16 carries and scored twice. Evan Dienhart hauled in 9 catches for 120 yds and a score. Ty Buche also had 7 catches for 111 yds and a score.
The Knights will travel to Clinton Central on Saturday for a 7pm kickoff with a chance to advance to the Sectional finals.
