Girls Varsity Volleyball · Knights finish 3rd at Rossville Invite

The Knights traveled to Rossville today to participate in the Hornet Invite.  Nine talented teams took action with in Rossville’s three gyms.  In our morning pool we were paired with Clinton Central and Mississinewa.  We took the court first against the Bulldogs of Clinton Central and won in straight sets 2-0(25-23,25-13).  Though we got off to a slow start we picked up our urgency and played tough to earn the victory.   After a short break we were back in action versus an athletic Mississinewa team, but very aggressive service pressure and heavy swings in the front row allowed us to dominate this match winning 2-0(25-15,25-8).

After winning our morning pool we earned a spot in the three team Championship Pool.  We squared off first against a very solid defensive Lewis Cass team who made it very difficult for our offense to find success.  The girls battled hard but fell short in a very tough 1-3 loss (20-25,25-17,13-15).  After this tough loss we had a quick turn around to play a very athletic Maconaquah team who were well rested and ready to battle team.  The Braves proved to much for us on this afternoon winning in straight sets 0-2(26-28,15-25).  We finished 2-2 on the day and in 3rd place in the tournament, plenty of good things took place and many things we will be ready to correct in the coming weeks.  The Lady Knights record now stands at 7-4 on the season.

Go Knights!
