Coed Varsity Bowling · Knights Keglers Topple Harrison

The Knights Boys bowling team went into Saturday’s match with a 3-2 record and in second place trailing conference leader Harrison HS.  Saturday’s match at Best’s Bowling Center in Monticello was a position round so conference leaders Harrison lined up against the Knights for ten games in Baker format.  The Knights got off to an early lead by winning the first five games. But the total pin score, which would decide the match, remained close with the Knights leading by only 89 pins. Harrison clawed back to take the next four games that included a 210 game to the Knights 144 to wipe away the deficit. The match would be decided in the tenth game, with the Knights leading by only seven pins 1433 – 1426 going into the tenth game.  Clutch bowling by the Knights all day really kicked in for the last five frames of match.  A double in the seventh and eighth frames from Ethan Mraz and Josiah Lewis and then another double by Corey Schram in the tenth frame secured the win for the Knights.  The Knights took 10 points for total pins (1613 -1570) and another 6 points for the individual game wins for a final score of 16-4.  Congratulations to our Knights Daniel Poole, Corey Schramm, Josiah Lewis, Carson Risch and Ethan Mraz for a great win against a tough opponent!
