The Junior High Cross Country team fared well at the 44th annual Rensselaer Invitational on 14 Sep 2019. Substantial competition, as 28 schools, 466 boys and 415 girls, from across the region participated. The Knights capitalized on relatively cool weather and turned in excellent performances.
In the boys 8th grade race the Knights faced tough competition, ran well and posted a 5th place team finish of 17 teams. Veteran harrier Kipp Pickerill turned in a powerful performance, placing in the top 20 medal winners (17th) and leading the Knights across the line with an 11:04 finish. Kipp crushed his 2018 PR by 12 seconds, narrowly missing sub 11! Moreover, Kipp placed 20th of all 466 boys at the overall invitational! Fellow veterans John Rafacz and Andrew Friel turned in excellent runs, both crossing the line in 11:23, and likewise crushing their PRs by 27 seconds. Gavin Boutelle and Josh Rogers pushed the pace and crossed the line as the 4th and 5th Knights, helping to secure the 5th place team position.
While the event subdivided racing into girls & boys 6th, 7th and 8th grade race fields, 16 of the 17 Knights that raced today turned in career PRs or 2019 season PRs! Well done Knights!!
