The junior high cross country team raced well in the extreme heat and against a large race field, at the Klondike Invitational on 10 Sep 2019. Twelve schools, 264 boys and 163 girls participated at the Amphitheater.
In the girls race, the Knights placed 8th (179 points) of 12 schools. Veterans Emily Milks (14th) and Shannon Dineen (15th) led the way for the Knights and were among the top 20 medal winners. Osiris Macias, Malia Radcliffe and Eleanor Carpenter, likewise ran well in hot conditions to help deliver the 8th place team position.
In the boys race, the Knights placed 5th (124 points) of 12 schools. Kipp Pickerill (6th), John Rafacz (14th) and Andrew Friel (19th) were the top scorers for the Knights and were among the top 20 medal winners. Veterans Gavin Boutelle and Max Siemers ran strong in the heat, helping deliver the 5th place team position. While it’s generally difficult to PR in hot conditions, two of our new runners did just that! Angel Gomez and Colin Carpenter posted 14:14 and 17:21 runs respectively!
Nice running Knights!
