On Saturday the Varsity Wrestlers participated in the Jeff Sectionals. Going in, the mindset for the wrestlers was one match at a time. The first round was an elimination round, win or your day is over. 126 Noah O’Donnell and 170 Peter Brown both fell in the first round. 152 Jesus Escalera and 220 Nathan Merten both advanced to the second round. 113 Dorinda Andrews received a forfeit to the second round.
The majority of our wrestlers had byes to the second round. 103 Dominic Skees, 120 Isaac Switzer, 138 Dakota Skees, 145 Jordan Turpin all won their matches to advance to the semi-finals. 152 Jesus Escalera, 160 Felipe Viera, 182 Evan Suppinger, and 220 Nathan Merten lost and would have to wrestle back to advance any further. 113 Dorinda Andrews took an injury forfeit due to a previous injury.
The semi-finals were a rough round for the Knights. No one was able to advance to the finals, they needed to win the next round to have a shot at 3rd or 4th place and advance out of Sectionals.
103 Dominic Skees, 120 Isaac Switzer, 138 Dakota Skees, 145 Jordan Turpin, and 152 Jesus Escalera all pulled out victories this round. 182 Evan Suppinger lost to Younker from Harrison but would wrestle for 5th/6th place.

145 Jordan Turpin over came his earlier disappointment and held on to beat Phillips of McCutcheon 9-6 placing 3rd!
152 Jesus Ecalera had an exciting match against Cohee of Delphi to get to the placement round. Jesus put Cohee on his back, then Cohee reversed him and was close to pinning Jesus, but Jesus was able to bridge and roll Cohee over for the pin! In the placement round he fell to Ruiz of Harrison and earned 4th.
182 Evan Suppinger, wrestling with a hurt shoulder, fought through the pain and won an exciting match 4-2 against Kelly of Attica to place 5th and is an alternate for Regionals!
Of the 11 wrestlers that competed for Central Catholic 5 will advance to the Logansport Regional the most in program history.
Way to go Knights!
