Multiple Teams · Jr. High Boys Take 2nd Place at the Sheridan Invitational


The boys cross country team took second place out of six teams competing at the Blackhawk Invitational Cross Country meet held on August 27 at Sheridan High School. After a brief weather delay the 3K race was underway under very humid conditions.  The top seven Knights were: Calvin Pickerill 12:23 (PR) 4th place; Nicholas Burton 12:34 6th place; Seaton Garrett 12:45 7th place; Mark Cramer 12:46 8th place; Robbie Burton 13:30 (PR) 16th place; Dylan Riley 14:31 (PR) 32nd place; Logan Torres 15:30 (PR) 38th place to provide a team score of 41 points.  Tyler Thieme 16:15 and Cullen Raderstorf 18:38 also set personal records at the race.

Wisdom Builders edged us out of first place by one point with a team score of 40 pts. With a score of 41, the Knights boys team beat Frontier (61), Alexandria (97), Sheridan (119), and Southern Wells (162).

The girls didn’t have enough runners to compete as a team at this race, but posted strong performances nonetheless. Audrey Cleveland finished at 13:26 for 4th place overall. Teammates Clare Rausch finished at 14:27 (PR) for 9th place, Maria Vawyer finished at 14:49 for 13th place, and team captain Mia Vinarcik finished in 25th place at 16:15.

The next race for the Knights is the Tecumseh Invitational at Lafayette Jefferson HS on  Tuesday August 30.
