Multiple Teams · Middle School Cross Country Season Recap

The middle school cross country team finished its season with two races earlier in October. Our teams competed very well against tough area competition and many of our runners set personal records at these last two races.

The Klondike Invitational was held at the Tippecanoe Amphitheater on October 1. This course featured a very steep hill at the 2K mark. Our boys team took second place out of seven teams competing with a score of 48 points. Battle Ground won the race with 21 points. Matt Cleveland was the first Knight to finish and posted a PR time of 11:52 to take 3rd place overall. Central Catholic hosted the Hoosier Conference High School Cross Country Championship on Saturday October 3. In addition to the Varsity and JV 5K races, the event featured boys and girls middle school 3K races. Cold weather, wind and a light rain provided very challenging conditions for the competitors. In the middle school boys race Matt Cleveland paced the Knights with a 7th place finish time of 11:59. Grant Potter took 10th place with a PR time of 12:07, followed by Blake Ortner (12:18), Nick Burton (12:28 PR), Seaton Garrett (12:33), Mark Cramer (12:34 PR), and Corey Schramm (13:00). The boys team took 3rd place with 59 points, falling just behind Tipton who scored 56 points. Rensselaer Central won the boys race with 26 points.
