Game Recap

The Lady Knights soccer team beat the Twin Lakes Lady Indians by a score of 4-0 tonight. The Lady Knights won possession almost immediately after TL kicked off and took the ball right to the TL goal where it appeared that we had score just 25 seconds into the game. The side referee called it a non-goal though. He said that the keeper had her hand on the ball when one of our players kicked it and therefore the ball was dead and the goal did not count. That pretty much summed up the rest of the first half for us. We continuously worked the ball into the attacking third of the field where we would then take a shot that went right to the keeper or we would turn the ball over and TL would send it flying back to our end of the field where we would then work the ball back up the field and do it all over again. About midway through the half Kenna Preston went into the game with instructions to really use her leg strength when taking shots on goal. Not even a minute after entering the game, Kenna blasted the ball into the back of the net for our first goal.
At halftime we talked about making better connecting passes and focusing on maintaining possession. The second half was much better with regard to keeping possession and making smart passes around the TL players. This passing and possession gave us many opportunities and we were able to add 3 more goals in the second half. Megan Bullock started off the second half scoring by putting a rebound in the net. Our next goal was set up by Bay Ulrey. She made a nice pass to Kenna who scored her second goal of the night. Our third goal was by Emma Gerrety which came off of a nice pass from Madison Love. Stephanie Siemers made some nice saves in goal to keep TL off of the board, especially late in the game when we had some of our non starters playing against TL’s starters. This game gives us 3 wins in our last 3 starts. Lets see if we can keep the streak going this weekend. Go Knights!!
