Game Recap

Central Catholic evened their record at 1-1 on the young season last night with a decisive 9-0 victory over the Tri-County Cavaliers. Though a young team ourselves, Tri-County sported a roster of 7 freshman on their 13-player roster. CC took advantage of the Cavaliers in the 1st inning with 6 of the first 7 batters reaching base via a hit or a walk. CC put up all the runs they would need in the first inning by scoring 3.

CC made all of the routine plays on defense, committing only 2 errors for the game. CC successfully completed their second of two rundowns in the first 2 games of the season. CC’s defense was also bolstered by a heads-up double play turned by Jenna Corbett on a tag-and-throw play in the 5th inning.

The entire roster made it into this game with everyone getting at least 1 AB. One of the most important at bats of the game came in the bottom of the 5th inning with CC holding onto a 4-0 lead. With 1 out and the bases loaded, pinch-hitter Mary Page delivered a hard hit ground ball up the middle, plating 2 runs. This at bat and the additional run scored later in the inning cemented the game for the Knights.
