Sunny and cool conditions on Saturday along with a flat course set a perfect stage for many of our runners to set personal records for the 3K distance at the 40th Annual Rensselaer Invitational cross country meet held at Rensselaer Central High School.
In the 8th grade boys race William White continues to find his way onto the podium by taking 5th place with a time of 10:42. Team captain David Ortman finished 36th with a time of 12:02, followed by Austin Chyall at 12:54, and Luke Cooley at 15:16. All our veteran 8th graders set personal records with these finish times.
Emma Bullock finished 30th overall with a time of 13:09 in the 8th grade girls race and set another PR.
Our 7th grade boys ran a smart race by pacing each other around the course. Kevin Todd finished 62nd in 13:28, followed by Noah Wiercioch at 13:35, and Sebastian Lux at 14:02. Grant Potter continues to find yet another gear on race day and posted a 14:13.
In the 7th grade girls race Alicia Orr started strong by running the first mile in 8:02 and finished even stronger in 61st place with time of 14:47 at an overall pace of 7:56.
In the 6th grade boys race Isidore White gutted out a 39th place finish at 13:17. Mark Cramer (13:41) Seaton Garrett (13:44) Griffin Chyall (14:46) and Andrew Schafer (19:51) all set PRs. These five 6th grade boys from St. Boniface and St. Lawrence Schools were able to score as a team and took eleventh place out of fourteen schools with a score of 244.
Central Catholic will host several area schools at the CC Invitational this Thursday. Gun time for the girls’ race is at 5:15 PM. The boys’ race will begin shortly after the girls’ race is complete.
